The Doing Good Residency

The Doing Good Residency is an innovative approach to music education in the 21st Century. The residency is a three-day course in social entrepreneurship that pulls together key concepts from our year-long Doing Good course. Contact us if you would like more information on offering the Doing Good Residency at your school, youth orchestra or community program!

examples of Past partnerships:

New York State Summer School for the Arts (NYSSSA)

Over a period of several weeks, Project 440 teaching artists delivered all three of our seminars to the students at NYSSSA's Orchestral Studies Program. After the final seminar on Community Engagement, several small ensembles received coachings from our teaching artists, who guided them through the process of conceiving, creating and presenting interactive performances. They also received artistic coaching from a Philadelphia Orchestra Musician, and presented their orginal interactive performances in the Saratoga Springs community. [Please note: coachings from Philadelphia Orchestra members are not guaranteed.]

Carnegie Hall's NYO2 inaugural summer program

Carnegie Hall approached Project 440 to provide college and career guidance to their NYO2 students, many of whom were from underserved communities. They were particularly interested in our entrepreneurship program, which provided us with the opportunity to build on our Leadership and Entrepreneurship seminar and create the pilot for our intensive Social Entrepreneurs workshop series. We also presented our College seminar to students from both NYO2 and NYO who wanted to learn about the college application process.

The School District of Philadelphia's All City High School Music Program

The All City High School music program is comprised of the best orchestral, concert band, and choral students in Philadelphia. As the Lead Program Enrichment partner for All City, Project 440 provides special opportunities to these All City students by presenting each of our main seminars, plus additional mini-seminars expanding on such topics as writing college essays, financial aid, life skills and building resumes. We present special-interest career seminars on Composition, Orchestra Librarians, and Sound Engineering. Project 440 created a Chamber Music Series to allow All City musicians to participate in our intensive interactive performance workshops. We will also deliver our intensive Social Entrepreneurs workshops to small groups of All City students.
