Heidi Bindhammer is a graduate of Roberts Wesleyan College and Georgia Southern University where she earned her Masters Degree in Voice Performance. Ms. Bindhammer is on the faculty at Savannah State University.
She has appeared with various groups throughout her career including: The Pensacola Opera Company as Mable in Pirates of Penzance, Lucy in The Telephone; the Norfolk Savoiards as Josephine in HMS Pinafore; and Mlle Warblewell in The Impresario with the Southern Light Opera in Mississippi. She has also appeared frequently as a soloist with the Savannah Symphony, the Southern Georgia Symphony, Savannah Sinfonietta as well as the Orchestra Players of Savannah. She most recently appeared with the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra Master Works Series in the North American premiere of Benjamin Britten’s The Rescue of Penelope where she sung the part of Athene.
Her recent accomplishments include winning the 2000 MET Awards for the state of Georgia, first runner up for the 2000 NATSAA competition for Georgia ,a finalist in the 2000 Birmingham Opera Competition, as well as a Semi-finalist in the 2005 American Traditions Competition in Savannah, GA.
Ms. Bindhammer has collaborated with P440: MusicAlive! on a number of occasions, most recently in “Happy Birthday, Johnny” — a tribute to Johnny Mercer that was debuted during the summer of 2009 as part of Live Oak Public Library’s Summer Reading Program.
